From Grass to Fuel

Biofuel Furnaces heat Dudley Smith Farm and Taylorville Extension Unit office

U of I researcher Stephen Long has used Dudley Smith Farm funds to experiment with a heating unit burning pellets of miscanthus and switchgrass. The elephant-size grass can provide a cost-effective alternative to natural gas and other fossil fuels in heating farm houses and buildings.
